Colour Bloom Vessels – A Masterclass with Catherine Dunstan

A three-day exploratory course, offering students the opportunity to expand their kiln-forming skill-set through a new and exciting pattern-making process for glass. You will make one large or two small vessels, giving shape to colour bloom patterns that you will design and create from scratch. You will also create your own Silkemat drop out moulds, giving you the versatility to vary the shape of the rim of your vessel/s from the traditional circle and square.

This course will provide opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of approaches to colour and how molten glass behaves in the kiln. The colour blooming process allows you to create 3D patterns that resemble kaleidoscopic transitions, and you will learn how to best display their beauty through forming them into shape. You will gain a thorough understanding of the colour blooming process, as well as the technical knowledge needed to continue making your own re-useable drop out moulds. Catherine will also show you how to coldwork your vessels by hand.

This course is suitable for students who are completely new to colour blooming, but also offers those who are currently using Catherine’s e-book the opportunity to be guided through a project along with the challenge of taking a more complex approach.

Students will receive a free copy of Catherine’s e-book ‘Colour Blooming – A pattern making process for glass’.

This course is limited to 5 in numbers so you will have plenty of time with Catherine. Some experience of glass fusing and sheet glass cutting is essential. This course is at an intermediate level.

A light lunch is included.

There is an option to pay in installments for this course. Please email carla@harris-marsh.com for details.
